Luxury Home Trends

Luxury living brings the spa experience to the home. Today’s new luxury homes are a far cry from even the most opulent mansions of a half-century ago.

Just a quick look through a couple of luxury real estate magazines reveals a host of new “must have” luxury home components that earlier generations never thought about – or dreamed of.

For one thing, luxury consumers are leading the movement for “greening.” Eco-friendly building materials and energy-saving innovations are leading the way in high-end homes and renovations.

In addition, many of today’s luxury homes – known as Smart Houses – are equipped with high-tech computers that monitor and control everything from lighting, heating and cooling, to inside and outside security.

Pampering has also risen to new heights in these ultra-upscale manses. Expect your new luxury bathroom to mimic an upscale spa, complete with whirlpool, garden tubs for two (or more), saunas, heated marble floors and towel bars.

New gourmet kitchens feature large work/conversation islands, stainless steel “smart” appliances, plenty of hidden storage in cabinets and drawers, and living space nearby for staff.

And since even luxury home owners like to stand out, any elegant home with an intriguing story, historical significance, or simply a one-of-a-kind property is always in demand by the luxury real estate shoppers.
