Rod joined Winans Realtors in December 1988 in Dallas. In 1989, he opened the Arlington operation. He has been active in all aspects of the real estate business in Tarrant County. Service to the industry include beginning a 6th term as a Director of the Arlington Board of Realtors. He is present Chair of the Professional Standards Committee.

In 1981, Rod married his best friend Renee, they have 3 children, Randa, Ryan, & Reece.
